Data protection declaration

The protection of your personal data during its collection, processing and use when you visit to our homepage is important to us.  In the following, we would like to inform you not only about the fact that we request and electronically store and process your personal data but also about the manner in which we do so.

Personal Information

Personal data is information about you. This includes such information as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address, as well as such data as your location, your IP address and your bank details. When you use our website purely for information purposes, it is not necessary for you to disclose personal data. In certain cases, however, we need your e-mail address and/or your name and other details so that we can provide the desired information or, for example, answer a request for a seminar reservation.

Where disclosure of personal data is required, we will inform you accordingly. In addition, we will only store and process data that you provide to us voluntarily or automatically.

As a rule, only data which is required to provide the services is collected. Insofar as we ask you for further data, that is voluntary information. The processing of personal data takes place exclusively for the purpose of delivering the requested services and for the protection of our own legitimate business interests.

Processing of your IP address by the web servers

For technical reasons, to avail of internet services you need to reveal your IP address. This is processed by the web servers that deliver these internet pages. The processing required for the delivery of our web pages is not carried out anonymously. Apart from when it is processed by the web servers, your IP address is stored and used exclusively in anonymous form.

The legal basis for such processing is Article 6(1)(a), and where applicable, in conjunction with (b) and (f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Purpose of personal data

We use the personal data provided by you to process your enquiries or (if you so desire) to send you our newsletter.

We use the data collected in the context of user tracking (see "Google Analytics" section) to optimise our website. The data collected for this purpose is anonymised before further processing and is stored permanently in this form.

To process your enquiries, we use the contact data provided by you.

Restricted use

We collect, process and use the personal data provided online by you only for the purposes disclosed to you in each case. Your personal data is not be forwarded to third parties without your obligatory prior consent.

Personal data is only collected and transmitted to government institutions and authorities entitled to receive information in accordance with the relevant laws, or if we are obliged to do so by court order. Our employees and the service companies commissioned by us are bound to secrecy and to compliance with the provisions of the statutory data protection regulations.

Encrypted or unencrypted transmission

All data entered by you is transmitted to us in encrypted form so that it is protected from inspection by third-parties. The same applies to the delivery of the pages by our servers to you: the contents displayed to you are also not visible to third-parties.

Nevertheless, please do not send us any medical data about persons (including yourself) or any other sensitive information via our website.

Automatic collection, storage and processing of non-personal data

No personal or device-related data is collected on our server systems beyond the use of Google Analytics (see below). Logging by our web servers is turned off completely.

Newsletter

For our newsletter, we need only your e-mail address so that we can send you the newsletter.

The information you provide when registering for the newsletter is used exclusively for sending the newsletter and for no other purpose. You may unsubscribe from our newsletter free of charge at any time with effect for the future. After you have unsubscribed, your data is deleted immediately.

The data which you enter into the registration form is transmitted to us in encrypted form so that it is protected from inspection by third-parties.

The newsletter, which is sent as an e-mail, contains references to graphics, which are downloaded from our servers when you open the newsletter in your e-mail program. On the basis of this download, we can tell if and when you opened the newsletter. The same applies to any clicks on links in newsletter e-mails. These too are processed by us.

We use this usage data to evaluate reader interest in the individual articles. If you want to prevent our being able to match usage data specifically to you, when you take out the newsletter subscription, you should use an e-mail address which does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person.

You will receive the newsletter on the basis of your having given consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. We evaluate usage data on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not combine the information collected there with other personal data.

Seminar enquiries/registration/requests for information about seminars

On our pages you can register for the seminars we offer and request further information about seminars. In the first step, we only need your contact data, especially your e-mail address.

The information which you provide in the course of a seminar enquiry/registration or information enquiry is used exclusively for this purpose. This especially includes establishing contact with you.

We delete this data after your request has been processed. Deletion may be prevented by legal retention obligations, however. This can be the case, for instance, if a seminar booking is made. In that event, we will keep your data until the legal retention obligations (e.g., under the Value Added Tax Act or the German Commercial Code) no longer apply.

The legal basis for such processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The data which you enter on the form in this context is transmitted to us in encrypted form, so that it is protected from inspection by third-parties.

Social Media Widgets

The social media widgets used on our pages are configured to be data-protection friendly. Specifically, this means that when you merely access a page without actively clicking on one of the social media widgets, no data is transmitted to the respective social network.

Only if you actively click a given widget is the corresponding social network notified direct; it then receives information about the action clicked by you (e.g., "like" or "share"). No data is passed on by us.

Google Adwords Conversion Tracking

On our website, we use the “Google AdWords” online advertising program and, in this context, conversion tracking. Google Conversion Tracking is an analysis service provided by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”). When you click on an ad placed by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is placed on your computer. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. As a result, there is no way that cookies can be tracked via AdWords customer websites. The information collected via the Conversion cookie is used to compile conversion statistics. In this regard, we learn about the total number of users who clicked on one of our ads and were directed to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, we do not receive information that personally identifies users. Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for the legitimate interest in targeted advertising and the analysis of the effect and efficiency of this advertising.

We use Google Maps functions on our website. Google Maps is a service operated by Google Inc, Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). If you visit one of our pages that contain Google Maps, a connection to Google servers is established while the page is loading. In addition to your IP address, the Google servers will then also know which of our pages you are currently visiting. In addition, other personal data, such as your location, may be transmitted to Google when such pages are accessed.

If you are logged into your Google account, Google can merge this information with your profile. We have no further knowledge about the transmitted data or what Google uses it for. You can find out more about this in Google's privacy policy.

YouTube

Our website uses plugins from YouTube LLC, headquartered in 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA ("YouTube"). YouTube is a subsidiary of Google.

When you visit any of our pages containing a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established while the page is loading. Your IP address is transmitted to the YouTube servers. The servers will then also know which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can link your personal profile with your visit to our pages and the videos you accessed. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
